Capture the spirit of enlightenment and endeavor in a dram of Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Founded in 1897, this exquisite malt encapsulates the ‘can-dhu’ attitude of its forefathers, a group of entrepreneurial businessmen whose single ambition was to build a ‘most remarkable’ distillery to produce only the world’s finest single malt whisky.
Born on the banks of the River Spey, Tamdhu Distillery was perhaps the most modern and advanced distillery of its grand industrial era with a water wheel positioned beneath the floor for optimum performance, kilns redesigned to reduce heat loss and serviced by its own Dalbeallie railway station.
A Spirit Reborn Today
Tamdhu’s innovations served the distillery well for over one hundred years until the doors closed in 2010.
May 2013 marked the glorious return to market of Tamdhu by Ian Macleod Distillers, an independent Scottish family enterprise. Embracing the challenge of a silent distillery, their team have returned this iconic malt to its former glory with a new ten year old its founders would be proud of: daring, bold and pioneering.
Honouring traditional craftsmanship and Speyside expertise, Tamdhu is matured exclusively in the industry’s finest European and American oak sherry casks with a high proportion being first-fill sherry for a wondrous natural colour and an exquisite flavour that simply bursts with fruit and spice. It lingers…then gentle yields to toffee and sherry oak with the merest wisp of peat smoke, an enticing and memorable dram to savour.
