What is WWD

World Whisky Day invites everyone to try a dram and celebrate the water of life. Events are taking place all over the globe. If you can’t find an event happening near you why not host your own World Whisky day event? All you need is a bottle of whisky to share with your friends. World Whisky day celebrates all types of whisky/whiskey and encourages everyone to enjoy whisky responsibly.

World Whisky Day is all about making whisky fun and enjoyable. We are not about being snobby and you can drink it however you enjoy it. We want to be all inclusive that means any kind of whisky/whiskey from anywhere in the world.

We also want to encourage you to drink your whisky/whiskey the way you enjoy it most. So if you want to add ice or water or a mixer that’s fine by us – as long as you enjoy it.
There’s a difference between enjoying a whisky and really appreciating a whisky. If you want to analyse a whisky then we suggest you drink it neat with a splash of water.

How can I take part?

You can find a World Whisky Day event happening near you and go along to taste some wonderful whiskies and meet loads of other fun people. There are loads of events happening all over the world. Some events are free and some are ticketed.

But what if I’ve never tried whisky before?

Then you are in the right place. We want to give people the chance to try whisky who might not normally drink it at any other time of the year. We have lots of information about the history and how whisky is made coming soon on this site. But the best thing is for you to get along to a World Whisky Day event and try out a dram for yourself. We hope you enjoy it.

But I don’t think I would enjoy whisky neat?

Well why not try a whisky cocktail. There are many fantastic whisky cocktails that you could try. We will shortly be adding a list of cocktails to this site that you can try at home or get your favourite bar to make for you on World Whisky Day.
